The TrapJumper Launches at No Dig Live 2018

Posted on: September 25th, 2018

This year’s No Dig Live was an even bigger event for Scanprobe as we launched the TrapJumper push rod camera live on the stand!

Bob’s Drainage Co. have a TrapJumper in their vans!

With No Dig Live 2018 being a landmark event on the trenchless technology events calendar, this was always going to be the best place to launch our latest innovation into the pipeline inspection industry – the TrapJumper.  Designed to be flexible enough to handle tight bends and traps whilst still being strong enough to push the distance, we see the TrapJumper as a great addition to any pipeline inspection engineers toolkit.  The demo pipe rig was a popular feature on our stand and you could frequently hear the TrapJumper camera being pushed successfully around the cast-iron pipe across the span of the event.

One of the main functions of the TrapJumper which makes it different from other cameras in the industry is that it is fully compatible with the existing Maxprobe control box, meaning that current Maxprobe users will not need to spend extra to get another box – instead plug in and carry on.  Together with the portable design, the TrapJumper is very convenient to transport, with it’s compact fold-away frame, flip-down spring-loaded handle and lightweight construction, you can carry it in one hand and carry the control box in the other.

With 40m of rod on the reel, the TrapJumper is able to push the distance, whilst being able to manoeuvre through tight trap bends when pushed from a height.  Born from the need for drainage engineers to complete a pipeline survey rather than abandon it when their standard push-rod camera approached a tight bend, the TrapJumper means you can continue where you might previously have been forced to stop.

As with the rest of the Maxprobe range, the TrapJumper has the same expected functions including a self-levelling camera, camera and frame rated to IP64 and a sonde located within the camera head for both accuracy and sonde protection.

Maxprobe Web Ready Capability – “Pipe to Pocket” in an instant

Posted on: January 16th, 2017

Web Ready is WinCan’s latest initiative that allows direct connection & upload of CCTV data to WinCan Web and this capability now comes as an integral part of the Maxprobe pipe inspection system range from Scanprobe. WinCan Web is a cloud transfer & delivery tool for CCTV inspection data. This could be upload & delivery of finalised inspection data from WinCan VX or transfer of data directly from WinCan Embedded hardware. No burning, postage, hunting for lost DVD’s, software installation or worries about codec playback issues. Simply upload & publish the report to the client. Once published the client has access on any device, anytime, anywhere…. Web intelligently switches from desktop view to mobile view so project access is simply on your desk or in your pocket.

web ready Maxprobe web ready2

For many years WinCan Embedded has allowed industry standard data input on site incorporated into camera system hardware. No PC or further Licences required. Data transfer was then done manually to the office based WinCan licence by USB memory stick. For some clients this lag in delivery has become an important issue. Speed from site survey to client report delivery needed improving. Adding the functionality of Web Ready to WinCan Embedded has moved things on to the next step… it’s moved online!

Web Ready allows connection to WinCan Web with remote upload from any location with Internet access. Simply complete the project in the normal way using WinCan Embedded then instead of exporting the job to USB stick simply upload to WinCan Web. The project can then be published to customer for review of Video, downloaded to office for pre delivery QA or stored in the cloud for security & peace of mind. Immediate delivery from site is now a simple integrated process.

Look out for systems supporting the Web Ready feature to ensure speedy cloud delivery direct from any location.

Web Ready, it’s the only way to go and currently Scanprobe are the only manufacturer to offer the ability to push survey information directly to WinCan WEB for the push camera itself!

Why MaxProbe?

Posted on: July 4th, 2015

Latest innovation.

For the past 3 years the Scanprobe Technical team have had meetings and put their creative and brilliant ideas together to design a CCTV drainage system that will shape the future.  From their company headquarters in Surrey, the Maxprobe was born.

Unlike current Units on the market, the Maxprobe offers updatable software, so your system will never be left behind with the fast pace of technology.

How is this going to benefit yourselves as customers you ask?

Maxprobe Pipe Inspection System with Wincan Embedded Reporting Software as standard

The idea was born by Scanprobe’s in house research and development technical technician Alex Rose. At the start he had the idea and pushed for longevity in a system that always offer the latest software similar to a pc. This means if you require personal touches it can be done via the click of a button. Updates from Wincan V8, Wincan VX all updated as standard.

This also means that we don’t sit still and always look to improve the Maxprobe’s usability (with updates offered via email) you can keep up to date with the latest and most innovative software offered to the drainage community.

One of the main issues to come to the design table was being able to see the picture in direct sunshine. “We’re constantly having to shield the monitor with our jackets” said Toby Green (the head of Scanprobe CCTV on-site surveying team).

With this in mind the design team at Scanprobe tested in excess of 50 LCD screens to find the most suited to the harsh conditions of the drainage world. The 10.4” sunlight-readable screen was a revelation, not only was it larger than most competitors, it offered a fantastic image when viewed in direct sunlight.

The next problem faced by the team was the issue of rain and snow. “It has to be waterproof to at least IP54” demanded Harry (the head of Scanprobe’s customer service dept). With this issue in mind the keypad was the first to embrace the changes required. Existing units on the market have kept the old membrane design. Which is fine for ingress protection but very slow and antiquated when typing.

The first option Scanprobe discussed was touch screen. Excellent in clean dry conditions but, (as we all know!) drainage is far from clean and certainly not dry. Let’s be clear having engineers taking off their gloves to touch screens in the field of drainage is completely ludicrous. Also if touch screens get wet the text/image will become unstable making the unit impractical and profitless. After much deliberation, a fully waterproof rubber qwerty keypad was decided on. This gives you the advantage of typing quickly and easily with the confidence that rain and snow won’t affect its usability.

After sealing the LCD screen and some other modifications, not only did the Maxprobe pass IP54 testing it was given an IP64 tested certificate.

Storage was the next hurdle. The common denominator was which device would offer the best recording facility. A lot of the discussion was based on the issues of reliability. With this in mind the team agreed a solid-state drive was the most unassailable option. So 32gb of internal storage would be offered as standard with the option to increase this to 1 terabyte. With regard to exporting data, the team decided to offer as much choice as possible. With this in mind X2 USB ports, X1 SD port, an Ethernet port and Wi-Fi was installed as standard.

The Wi-Fi offers the concept of emailing complete surveys direct to the client via a cloud for them to download to their PC. This is something Scanprobe is working closely with Win-can over and hope to release this shortly.

Welcome to the world of Maxprobe! With its Futureproof capabilities, stunning range of embedded surveying software and truly next generation style and feel, buying the Maxprobe is just the start. Come on the technical journey with us and the Maxprobe will be the last camera you will need to purchase.

Rat Blocker – Environmentally Friendly Rat Prevention System For Drains & Sewers

Posted on: June 11th, 2015
Rat Blocker

Rat Blocker

The Rat Blocker is an environmentally friendly system designed specifically to prevent rats from entering houses and commercial buildings through the drainage system and sewer pipes. By installing the Rat Blocker, the pipes are also protected from damage caused by rats. Rats that are already inside the drainage pipes or sewer system can get out without a problem but cannot return into the system. The system will also prevent frogs from entering the pipework.

Renoline will be stocking Rat Blockers in all sizes up to 250 mm – also for lined pipes and back flow preventers. They are produced from Marine Grade Stainless Steel AISI 316 and have gone through thorough testing and EU-approval. Furthermore it is patented worldwide and as can be seen from the following video it is very straightforward to install – it takes longer to remove the lid to the well than it does to actually install the Rat Blocker.

Every year thousands of hotels, restaurants, canteens and cafés are closed due to rat problems resulting in loss of money and reputation. This could be avoided by installing a Rat Blocker and furthermore rats are a source of water contamination and spread diseases. This is an inexpensive and environmentally friendly way of preventing rat attacks which in 95 % of cases originate from the sewers. This is also a way of reducing the use of poison which according to a UK study 75 % of rats are now resistant to.

New EZiSYSTEM 33kHz Clamp Sonde now available at Scanprobe

Posted on: April 28th, 2015

The New, unique EZiSYSTEM Clamp Sonde, now available at Scanprobe, is a single frequency 33kHz battery powered transmitter, whIch can be attached to a cable or rod up to 12mm diameter. (Smaller diameters must be sleeved to pack out to 12mm diameter). When attached to a borer or camera system, (or indeed any cable, rod, rope etc.) and inserted into a drain, sewer, pipe or duct the signal transmitted can be located using any EZiCAT locator and the position of the clamp sonde identified.

The Clamp Sonde is easily attached and detached and transferred from one cable to another in seconds.

Features include:

  • Simple Clamp system - Using only a screwdriver the EZiSYSTEM Clamp Sonde can be attached to any cable up to 12mm diameter in seconds.
  • Rugged and Compact Design - Measuring only 40mm in diameter and 95mm in length the EZiSYSTEM Clamp Sonde is designed specifically for the most restrictive environments. Built to be fully submerged it can be attached to almost any equipment in the harshest environments.
  • Battery Power - Powered by a single standard AAA battery you can typically expect up to12 hours of continuous use. The battery can be replaced quickly and easily without having to detach the unit from the cable.
  • Bright LED Indicator - Other sondes offer nothing in the way of user feedback – it is often difficult to tell whether they are switched on and transmitting a signal! As with all EZiSYSTEM sondes the Clamp Sonde has a bright LED to show the battery is OK,  inserted correcty and the unit is functioning.

Scanprobe Opt For WinCan Embedded Reporting Software

Posted on: March 9th, 2015

Having already launched their new Maxprobe Pipe Inspection System with Wincan Embedded reporting software included, Scanprobe are now looking to use Wincan Embedded as a standard offering across their CCTV drain camera range.

Maxprobe Pipe Inspection System with Wincan Embedded Reporting Software as standard

Jon Barry, Managing Director at Scanprobe Techniques Ltd commented: “Having looked at the market and seeing the Water Companies in the UK using only WinCan as its reporting requirement we at Scanprobe are now looking to use this as a standard. To start with our Maxprobe system will carry the software but we will be rolling it out onto other kit over time to offer its use across several systems and capabilities. This will allow operators not currently able to offer WinCan reporting based services to parts the industry to look at doing so. Scanprobe has designed its own interface so as to keep its commercial identity whilst being able to ‘talk’ to the WinCan embedded software in a manner that is useable by the surveyor. Anyone using existing software WinCan but using competitor’s cameras can buy Scanprobe with WinCan Embedded and can still use the WinCan system they already hold. This means they are no longer beholden to any specific CCTV manufacturer and now have an option to use a broader spectrum of CCTV kit. This is a significant step forward for Scanprobe as we can now offer reports that meet the industry requirements in all areas. The Maxprobe also has the most up-to-date software for talking to WinCan using a powerful processor that has been designed to make it future proof against updates on WinCan such as if WinCan embedded needs to send reports to a centralised ‘cloud’ wirelessly it will be able to do so. We think this puts our system ahead of the game on this one.”
