Maxprobe Camera System Still Evolving!

The Maxprobe camera system is an evolving unit that changes constantly. Initially when launched in 2015 the unit had a standard camera head compared to today’s standard. Since January of 2017 the camera head was upgraded to a 44mm self-leveller with integral sonde within the camera housing that provides traceability up to 4mtrs deep. The Sonde itself is encapsulated in the main camera body for product robustness and compact design, rather than exposed to damage in a spring behind the camera head or potted in bulky connectors.

We currently provide two frequencies – 33 kHz a UK standard and 512Hz (which has improved results in cast iron pipes). We recommend the C-scope MXL4 receiver to trace our equipment, as these provide the best results.

Currently, we are testing a Controller Area Network BUS system which will control numerous operational and inspection functions, allowing us to explore 3D pipe scanning and mapping. Scanprobe is also looking to develop software, as we realise that premium drainage companies are moving more into software technology when carrying out an inspection survey and are now demanding a level of technology never seen in the industry before.

Software companies like Wincan offer surveying package’s which can incorporate all manner of tracing and mapping information. With the introduction of 4G into the Maxprobe box, all surveys can be carried out on-site and sent direct to the client or office via Wincan web. Scanprobe pioneered the first camera inspection system to incorporate Wincan web and are enjoying fantastic reviews on this cutting edge technology. We feel we’ve only just scratched the surface of what can be achieved. We see the future of surveying, where all the pipes are laid out on a map in 3D with all the information (size, material, length) tagged next to each run giving water authorities a complete layout of their waste systems. Once the information has been gathered from around the country, a national waste grid system can be established. This is some way off, but the objective of Scanprobe Techniques is to provide the tools in which this can be achieved.

The latest project due for release is The Maxprobe Atex push rod system (zone 1) which is scheduled for release this year. This will give users the peace of mind to inspect, survey and trace pipes in hazardous areas with a fully independently certified inspection system.

We are constantly monitoring the needs of our customers and (without giving too much away), the future of our Maxprobe looks fantastic. We will be pushing the boundaries of inspection, tracing, mapping software coupled with reliability and durability over the coming years, so watch this space.

The ground breaking Maxprobe drain camera from Scanprobe is now available in 4 additional models providing a range of options to better match Customer requirements. Maxprobe systems come with a variety of camera heads to suit all different pipe sizes, the latest version is the MP44 which has an integrated locator and comes as standard on the Maxprobe, Maxprobe XL and Maxprobe 120. Its key features are:
